AMD has the graphics cards in the HD 7000-series of a new label. For oems, the video cards are now if HD 8xx0. Except as sticking new stickers, made AMD even more details known about the HD 8000 m series for laptops.
Oem’s spend during the Consumer Electronics Show a lot of new products out, but because the major hardware manufacturers, no new products have to offer, many of the systems only new in name. AMD renamed HD 7000 series for oem’s; so is the HD 7970 GHz Edition now by the HD 8970, while the HD 7950 Boost and HD 8950 in systems pricked will be. The same is true for almost all other HD 8000 graphics cards, the HD 8670 and HD 8650. These graphics cards have the new Oland gpu on board, with 384 streamprocessors, on the basis of the GCN architecture. For the consumer, nothing changes.

Earlier in december, AMD all the HD 8000 m series, but details about the different gpu’s were scarce. The HD 8800m series is based around the Heathrow gpu, which is much like the Cape Verde gpu, the HD 7700 cards for the desktop is used. The HD 8700m-, 8600m and 8500m series, by contrast, is based on the new Mars gpu, with 384 streamprocessors. The HD 8700m gpu’s have a 128bit memory bus, while the HD 8600m and HD 8500m gpu’s have to do with a 64bit memory bus.
Mars is the mobile counterpart of Oland. Like Oland, Mars on 28nm produced and it uses the GCN architecture. The 8000 m-series consists primarily of midrange and budget-gpus. The real high-end is still formed by the HD 7900-series, but that seems to be no rebrand.
