Nokia has the ability to e-mail push to receive on Nokia Belle phones turned off. That has a tweaker been told the helpdesk of Nokia. On the private forum confirms the Finnish manufacturer that push mail is not working.

It is unclear why Nokia Messaging is not working, and whether the service is equal for all users is disabled. Nokia offered the push e-mail since 2009 for devices with Symbian^3, Symbian Anna, or Nokia Belle, such as the E75, N8, E7 and more recently the 808 PureView. The servers of Nokia Messaging pushten e-mail includes Gmail and Hotmail automatically. Mail for Exchange works with a push system, and remains so to work.

Nokia confirms that it is not a temporary issue, in an e-mail to a reader of Tweakers.net. “As I mentioned in my previous mail indicated, this is not a temporary situation. It is so that Gmail, Hotmail, POP/IMAP, etc are not automatically pushed, but this was an additional service from Nokia via the Nokia Messaging servers. These servers, made sure that the mail was ‘doorgepusht’ to the device. This service is by Nokia ended, hence the change in the operation of the system.”

On the private forum confirms Nokia that the service is being ‘phased out’. It is unclear how many users are affected by disabling of the system. Nokia supports Symbian still, but focused the past year on creating handsets with Windows Phone, as the Lumia 920.
