Seagate is by the floods in Thailand, the largest hard disk producer in the world. Seagate was the least affected by flooding, unlike many of its competitors. Before was Western Digital, the largest producer.

Seagate produced according to market research from iSuppli in the third quarter of 2011, 50.8 million hard drives and in the fourth quarter were that there are 46.9 million. That is in stark contrast with the almost halving of the deliveries where, for example, Western Digital and Hitachi with problems. The limited decrease is the result of the fact that Seagate had the good fortune, that his production on relatively high ground stood. Thus, had it not been affected by the floods in Thailand, which is the country last year found. It was the worst flood in fifty years, and among other things, the hdd industry had to suffer.

The market shares go in the coming time quite a shift because the market for other reasons, a lot of movement. So has Seagate, the hdd business of Samsung acquired, and of some Western Digital is about that of Hitachi. Although the production partly recovers, prices go up, according to iSuppli does not fall directly because there is still less supply compared to demand.
