Gigabyte confirms arrival Core-i5 without gpu

Intel has announced new Core i5 processors where the graphics chip is turned off. That is confirmed by a list of Gigabyte with supported processors. It comes to three variants, of which the fastest is 3.4 GHz.

In the list of supported processors for the motherboard model number GA-Z68XP-UD3P, Gigabyte notification of three Core i5’s based on the Sandy Bridge architecture, which, however, without a functioning integrated graphics chip. The processors are the Core i5-2550K, Core i5-2450P and Core i5-2380P, which is about the clock speed of, respectively, 3,4 GHz, 3.2 GHz and 3.1 GHz.

The processors have, in the absence of the gpu, about the usual Core i5-properties, such as four cores with support for Turbo Boost, but no HyperThreading capability. They also have 6MB of L3 cache and a tdp of 95W. Maybe it was the gpu part of the chips are not to your liking, and choose Intel in this way for to still earn some money on partially defective chips. Not yet known or the Intel Core i5’s for a lower price is going to offer. According to earlier rumors from VR-Zone arrive the processors on 6 February.
