Intel’s new chipset, the X79, would be suitable for two processor sockets. Motherboards with the chipset on the board would not only be suitable for socket lga2011 processors, but also with lga1366 processors are compatible.

It has been known that the X79 chipset, codenamed Patsburg, to work with the new Sandy Bridge E-series processors. The E-series is the ‘excited-a platform for Intel to consumers, and follows the current Core i7 processors with lga1366 socket. Intel, however, would have plans to the X79 chipset not just socket lga2011 to combine; the company would also motherboards with socket lga1366 and the X79 chipset will make this possible.

According to the website Xbit Laboratories, that says a document with Intel’s plans to have understood, is Patsburg suitable for both 1366 and 2011. Intel would plan to have two X79 motherboards from: the DX79SI for Sandy Bridge E processors and the DX79TO for Bloomfield and Gulftown processors. That last sign, the so-called Thorsby motherboard, would two pci-express x16 slots, eight sata ports, two usb 3.0 ports and zeskanaalsaudio.

The top model, the Siler with socket lga2011, three pci-express-x16-slots with pci-express 3.0 support. Furthermore, the boards have eight memory slots for 64GB of ram, twelve sata ports, six of which are sata-600 ports, four usb 3.0 ports, achtkanaalsaudio and both dual gigabit network ports and wi-fi.

In the fourth quarter, it should be clear whether Intel actually X79 motherboards with socket lga1366 permits and releases. Previous roadmaps were always clear to see that the X79-lga2011-combination the current X58 chipset with the corresponding socket lga1366 follow. The simultaneous conduct of two high-end platforms is not particularly obvious.
