The American company Apple would consider to be in Groningen for a data center. It would go to a location in the Eemshaven, where rival Google for several years a data center running.

According to the the guardian, Apple is working on the construction of a data center in Eemshaven for to prepare. It was going to be a second data center in Eemshaven addition to the current establishment of a data center that Google is used.

Apple would be the location in Groningen consider the presence of fast internetverbinidingen and energy security. Google is since 2008 active in Groningen, partly due to the optical connections to London, Amsterdam and Hamburg. It is also building three metres above sea level, making it resistant to flooding.
