A Korean website has photos and benchmark results published of what is supposedly AMD’s upcoming high-end gpu: the R9 280X. From the results it appears that the card is slightly faster than Nvidia’s flagship model, the GTX Titan.

The photos and benchmark results were published online by the Korean website DG’s Nerdy Story, but are now no longer to be found. The images show likely AMD’s upcoming Radeon R9 280X-video card, which will be based on the new ‘Volcanic Islands’-gpu-design. This 280X should be the top model in the series.

According to previous messages will be AMD’s new gpu family still at TSMC produced 28nm. The chip is based on a new version of the Graphics Core Next architecture and would be about a maximum of 2816 streamprocessors, 176 tmu’s and 44 rops. The standaardkloksnelheid would be 800MHz amounts and using the Turbo-mode, this to and above 1GHz can be lifted.

From the pictures of the pcb is that for the power supply used is of a achtpins and zespins connector, secure the card on paper with a tdp of up to 300W. The displayed instance has two dvi outputs, an hdmi output and a displayport connector. The presence of 16 memory chips suggests that the map on 4GB memory will be available and according to rumors would be the memory bus 512bits wide.

The benchmark results show that the map in many gamebenchmarks just a little faster than Nvidia’s GeForce GTX Titan, though it is not clear in what configuration and with what drivers the 280X is tested. The Titan costs at the time of writing, around 900 euro, but the 280X is expected to be significantly cheaper. AMD will have new videokaartserie, in all likelihood, this week to announce.
