Medion will be in the German Aldi supermarkets, a new Android tablet in the shelves. The LifeTab P9516 would be a better battery than the LifeTab P9514, but running still on Android 3.2. There will be an update to Android 4.0

The new Medion tablet looks almost identical to the LifeTab P9514, who in december of last year, supermarket chain Aldi was sold. Main innovation is a better lithium-polymeeraccu, that the tablet has an endurance of 10 hours. The pastor kept it for 8 hours on a full battery. A downside of the larger battery capacity is that the LifeTab P9516 30 grams heavier than its predecessor and now 750 grams. Also, the tablet is 0.1 mm thicker.

Internally, the hardware of the tablet is identical the same: a 10.1″touchscreen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels, a 1GHz Tegra 2 soc, and 32GB of flash storage. Also the two cameras with a resolution of 2 megapixels in front and 5 megapixels at the rear remained the same. Further, the tablet includes 802.11 n-wi-fi, bluetooth 3.0, gps and 3g. The micro-usb port in the new model, however, if usb-host is used.

Like its predecessor, runs the LifeTab P9516 on Android 3.2 Honeycomb, has promised to Medion within a few months, a free update to bring Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The tablet is located at the end of this month in the German supermarkets of the Aldi-group, with a price of 400 euros. It is still unclear whether the tablet in the Dutch Aldi’s will be available.
