Oracle has a claim for damages in the soon-to-maintain lawsuit against Google is significantly reduced. Originally demanded Oracle 2 billion dollars. Now, that would be less than $ 100 million on the basis of two patents, instead of seven.

Oracle dragged Google in 2010 for the court for the violation of patents on Java in the Android operating system. The two patents that remain, RE38104 and 6910205, especially about the way Java works. For the former, the patent would Oracle a minimum of 4.7 and a maximum of 12.5 million dollars can requirements, for the second patent, that would be 0.2 to 0.5 million dollars.

In addition, it considers Oracle’s Java-based Dalvik Virtual Machine in Android have the same class-hierarchy and syntax as Java, and therefore infringes on the copyright of Oracle. For that violation would be the software company 32.6 million, dollar requirements. The actual compensation will be that, when a positive judgment for Oracle, far below the 100 million dollar lie. That is a big difference with the at least 129 million dollars that Oracle in February is still demanded.

At the beginning of the lawsuit made Google according to Oracle have infringed on seven patents, but the company has systematically, patent claims, and thus also the amount of damages awarded, toned. Partly to the court proceedings to speed up, which is already two years time without a case took place. The judges found the original damages demanded is much too heavy.
