Google would soon release a successor to the Chromecast with Google TV 4K from 2020. The new version would, among other things, have a modified remote control. The dongle should be released this year.
The new Chromecast will again have a maximum resolution of 4k, according to 9to5Google. Apart from the new remote control, the site does not know any specifications for sure. That remote has the same circular d-pad at the top, but the volume buttons now appear to be on the front instead of on the side. There is also a new star button, although it is unknown what it is for. The remote control information is from the Android TV 14 beta version.
