The Dutch payment service iDEAL is launching support for profiles. Users can create an account with which they can complete purchases 'faster and more securely'. According to iDEAL, the rollout will start in phases.

The new iDEAL functions will be available to ING customers from Wednesday, April 17. This is reported by Currence, the organization behind iDEAL. For ABN AMRO customers, this will happen at a 'time to be determined'. 'All other banks' can create an iDEAL account from Monday 15 April. Users can do this upon release via their bank's app or during checkout at an online store that supports iDEAL, Currence reported on Monday.

With accounts, users can easily enter their payment preferences and address details when making a payment. purchase, so that it can be completed faster. According to Currence, it is also safer because the address details are stored in the iDEAL system and not at every individual online store where the user makes a purchase. The profiles can be used by clicking the 'pay quickly' option when placing an order. The function is optional.

The arrival of iDEAL user profiles was already announced a year ago. Currence then talked about a release in the summer of 2023, but that was not achieved. The organization said in February that the feature would become available in April, but did not yet specify a precise date.
