Fria Tider reported in September that three of the ten tanks that Sweden sent were almost immediately knocked out.

Stridsvagn 122 has been described by Discovery as “the world's best tank”.

Now Forbes writes that “at least seven” of the Swedish the tanks have been lost to the Ukrainians.

However, only one of them is said to be destroyed, while the rest have been abandoned by the crews. Most of these are said to be in the fields outside Terny in the Donetsk region, an area described as a no-man's land.

Now the Ukrainians and Russians are “competing” to seize the abandoned tanks, according to Forbes.< /p>

“The Ukrainians want to intercept the Strv 122s to ship them to Lithuania for repair. The Russians want to intercept them to inspect them and, perhaps even more, to display them as war trophies,” the newspaper writes .

Analyst Andrew Perpetua has, however, reviewed satellite images around Terny and concluded that three of the five Battle Tank 122 abandoned by the Ukrainians have already been towed away. “Probably by Ukraine,” writes Perpetua.

Repairing a 122 Tank usually takes several months, according to Forbes.
