Zoom announces some new services for the chat service of the same name. Under the name Workplace, the company shows a renewed 'AI-powered digital workplace'. New features will also be released for Zoom Phone and the AI Companion.
Workplace bundles the various Zoom services and will have a new look, the company says in a press release. In addition to a revamped user interface, Zoom is introducing a simplified taskbar, a new navigation system, a Zoom Meetings tab and new personalization options. During virtual meetings, the company says it compensates for poor physical lighting by using AI lighting while focusing on active participants.
Zoom states that even more AI functionality has been incorporated into the Workplace app. The AI Companion can obtain information from Zoom Meetings, Mail, Team Chat, Notes and Docs, among other things. The bot can then generate minutes, action items and summaries of chats, emails and documents. According to the company, it will be possible to integrate 'select third-party applications' at a later date. No details are known yet.
Finally, the company announces AI functions for Zoom Phone. This allows the application to generate summaries and action items, which the company says helps users focus on conversations. The bot can also analyze voicemail messages to automatically create tasks. Summaries of text messages are generated via Team SMS Thread.
