The development of GTA VI is starting to lag. Gaming website Kotaku writes this based on anonymous sources. It is not clear what exactly is causing the delay. Rockstar is now said to be taking into account a scenario in which GTA VI will be released on the market in 2026. Kotaku writes that Rockstar is currently aiming for the spring of 2025 to launch GTA VI on the market. However, the website's editors also spoke to some anonymous sources who believe that a release in the fall of the same year is more likely. According to them, this is because the development of the game is starting to lag. It is not clear what exactly causes the delay, but according to the sources, security and quality aspects may have something to do with it.

Rockstar's board is now said to be taking into account a scenario in which GTA VI will not be released until 2026. The delay reportedly caused Rockstar Games to order its employees to return to the office to work full-time in February this year. Reporting from Aftermath, some company employees now fear that a crunch culture will emerge where they will have to work very hard to meet all deadlines.

Rockstar Games published the first trailer for GTA VI in December 2023. The game is set in Vice City in the fictional state of Leonida and features a female main character named Lucia. Grand Theft Auto VI once again seems to contain an open game world in which missions must be completed, all kinds of vehicles can be driven and locations can be visited. There will also be action and (police) violence involved. According to the company, GTA VI will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles in 2025.
