Foreign. Approximately 18 female correctional officers at a single prison in Wales have been fired for having sexual relations with inmates. Several of them have been convicted of crimes.

Sexual relationships between prisoners and female staff have been exposed at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham, Wales, during the last six years.
Three of the women have been charged and sentenced to prison, The Mirror reports.
Jennifer Gavan, 27, was sentenced in December to eight months in prison after smuggling a mobile phone for her lover Alex Coxon, 25, so she could send him pictures of herself via Snapchat.
Her colleagues Emily Watson and Ayshea Gunn have also been jailed for their prisoner relationships.

Gunn was jailed for a year in 2019 after starting a relationship with “dangerous” prisoner Khuram Razaq, 29. Among other things, she smuggled a pair of panties into his cell. In her bedroom were found photos of the couple kissing and hugging inside his cell.
The same year, Emily Watson was sentenced to a year in prison for having sex with inmate John McGee. She spent so much time with McGee that staff became suspicious and launched an investigation.
Staff have since received anti-corruption training and prison security is said to have improved.
– The overwhelming majority of Probation Service staff are hardworking and committed and we do not hesitate to punish those who break the rules, a spokesman for the Probation Service told The Mirror.
