The remake of the 1994 sci-fi shooter is further delayed. The System Shock rewrite was announced more than seven years ago and in 2016 there was a crowdfunding campaign. At the beginning of January 2023, it was said that the System Shock remake would appear in March. Nothing will come of it now.

Release at the end of May, demo already playable

The Nightdive developers have announced that System Shock will be released on May 30th on Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG. Although the team had hoped to release the game towards the end of March, unlike the crazy AI Shodan, they are “only human”. There is still no date for the console adaptation, which will be released later for PlayStation 4 and 5 as well as Xbox One and Series X|S.

But if you don't want to wait any longer, you can try System Shock now. As part of the Steam Next Fest, Nightdive released a free demo version that is still available to download and play.

Developers promise classic Game experience

The new edition aims to capture the spirit of the original and offer classic gameplay, but implement new game mechanics, new enemies and a new hacking system. Higher resolution textures and a revised control and user interface complete the remake. However, the system requirements are stuck halfway between 1994 and 2023: mid-range hardware from 2014 is recommended.
