HD Reworked Project is one of the most popular mods for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Mod developer Halk Hogan has replaced hundreds of textures in the 2015 action role-playing game over the years – and is now planning a similar project for Cyberpunk 2077.
The modification The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project, available via NexusMods, not only replaces the original textures of terrain, buildings, rocks, water, vegetation, animals and characters with customized 4K variants, but also makes changes to the LOD tuning and increases the Draw Distance of selected objects. Hogan attaches particular importance to an authentic appearance that does not change the graphic style of the game, but only reproduces it in higher resolution. The mod not only convinced hundreds of thousands of players, but also CD Projekt Red itself: The version HDRP 12.0 “Ultimate” was included in the next-gen update (test) for The Witcher 3 after consultation with Hogan.
After The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 should be sharper
The developer explains that the development of the modification is not over because of this: The HD Reworked Project Next Gen Edition is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2023 and bring further texture improvements. At the same time, however, Hogan is also working on a corresponding mod for Cyberpunk 2077 (test, test with patch 1.5), which was released at the end of 2020, as a corresponding teaser video now reveals. The focus should initially be on selected, conspicuously low-resolution textures, which can be found occasionally on roads or other ground surfaces.

Although he has only been working on the modification for a short time, some improvements can already be seen in the video. Hogan wants to name a release date soon, but is already promising that the Cyberpunk 2077 HD Reworked Project will also receive some updates. It is again important to him that the adjustments fit well into the original look of the action role-playing game and, if possible, do not negatively affect the performance.
Not the first texture mod for Cyberpunk 2077
Hogan is not the only one working on improvements for Cyberpunk 2077. On the one hand, CD Projekt Red recently released a new patch and plans to release a major addon this year; on the other hand, numerous other mod developers are busy.
