tado° already announced the Smart Thermostat Black Edition at IFA 2022 and announced that it would be available for sale in October. After a slight delay, the black version of the smart wall thermostat for the tado° heating system is going on sale today.
The Black Edition is just an additional color version compared to the white version technically, however, does not differ from the version already available. Tado° offers them because the white version does not suit every style and interior design. Tado° had previously conducted several rounds of surveys to determine the color preferred by most potential buyers. According to tado°, the black variant proved to be the clear favourite.
The tado° Smart Thermostat Black Edition is offered as a starter kit (wireless and radio versions) and as a single Smart Thermostat. The price for the starter kit (radio) is 249.99 euros (RRP) and for the starter kit (wired) 219.99 euros (RRP).

The dark mode in the tado app has been available since the end of October. If you use your smartphone with dark mode activated all the time or in the evening, the tado app will no longer stand out from this view, but will be black, dark green and dark orange.
No Matter support for the time being
On the other hand, there is still no news about Matter support for the smart thermostats from tado°. Although the manufacturer is an active member of the Matter Alliance, the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), there is currently no compatibility with this standard. However, the company is reviewing the development.
