With the WRX560, Synology is launching a new Wi-Fi 6 router with SRM 1.3 that takes over the management functions of the Synology RT6600ax (test) but is cheaper. Instead of tri-band WiFi, the WRX560 uses dual-band WiFi with 2.4 and 5 GHz.

But it also has a 2.5 Gbit/s fast WAN/LAN connection, which brings either a fast Internet connection or a fast end device into the network. The WRX560 can also serve as a mesh node and be used to complement an RT6600ax. With SRM 1.3, the WRX560 also offers threat prevention, VLAN segmentation, flow control, web filtering, VPN, parental controls, remote access, and support for Synology's DS-router app. Apps such as the Cloud Station, Download Station, a Media Server, DNS Server, VPN Plus Server or RADIUS Server, which are known from the NAS systems and the RT6600ax from Synology, can be installed on the router.

For wired connections, the router offers one gigabit WAN port, three gigabit LAN ports, and one 2.5 Gbps combo WAN/LAN port, with each Ethernet port providing a dedicated 5.5 Gbps bandwidth, according to Synology /s. External storage media can be connected via a USB-A port (3.2 Gen 1) and integrated into the network with file services such as SMB, AFP and WebDAV and via an FTP server. Time Machine backups of macOS systems are also possible with the WRX560. With Synology QuickConnect and DDNS, the router can be accessed from anywhere if desired.
