Making the charging infrastructure capillary is; fundamental to be able to push on the diffusion of electric cars . We have talked about this issue many times and we have also seen how car manufacturers have more; times appealed to the European Union to implement an ambitious plan to accelerate the creation of such an infrastructure. From this point of view comes a small but important news.

In fact, with 36 votes in favor, 2 against and 6 abstentions, the Transport and Tourism Commission of the European Parliament approved a draft regulation, as part of the Fit for 55 package, which imposes precise objectives as regards the diffusion of the charging infrastructure and more.

The regulation, however, will have to; then be approved by the European Parliament in plenary session. If it will arrive the green light, at that point negotiations with the governments of the individual countries will start.

PI? COLUMNS AND MUCH MORE set mandatory national minimum targets . Every single country will have to present a plan by 2024 with indications on how to achieve the obligations on the deployment of infrastructures. According to the text adopted, by 2026 there will have to be car charging stations every 60 km along the main European road arteries.

For trucks and buses, the same requirements would still apply by 2026, but only on the European backbone network TEN-T. MEPs also want trucks to have two dedicated stations in charging hubs by 2028, instead of one by 2031 as proposed by the European Commission. There are also some exceptions in the text for islands, low traffic roads and remote areas.

However, we do not want to just make the infrastructure more attractive. capillary but also allow more energy supplies simple. The costs of the filling stations will, for example, have to be comparable . For this reason, the aim is to create a dedicated European access point (by 2027) for data on alternative fuels to provide information on availability, waiting times and prices in the various stations.

< p> And speaking of alternative fuels , the approved text also includes some provisions for hydrogen stations . In fact, we want these stations to be found, along the main European roads, every 100 km instead of every 100 km. every 150 km. All this by 2028.

As mentioned, the text will now have to be approved by the European Parliament in plenary session. Only in this way; may & agrave; continue the process to effectively make it a regulation that all EU countries will have to respect.
