iPhone 14 Pro Max teardown
In the video, we get to see for the first time what has changed inside the iPhone 14 Pro models. The iPhone 14 Pro Max looks identical from the outside to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. A few things have also changed inside, as this teardown video shows. After removing the screen, you will immediately see most of the iPhone's components. There is an L-shaped battery and a new logic board with the text 'A16 Bionic' clearly visible. This is engraved on a metal plate with graphite surfaces, which should ensure that the heat is spread a bit more. Apple promised at the announcement that the iPhone 14 models will have a new thermal system to last longer at peak performance, and this new method of dissipating heat plays a vital role in that.
Completely new is the placement of the TrueDepth camera, which consists of the Face ID sensors and the front camera. Apple has placed the proximity sensor below the display so that all components now take up 30% less space. The module for the TrueDepth camera has actually become much smaller, allowing Apple to make it virtually invisible by using it as a Dynamic Island.
What's also easy to see is that for the rear camera, Apple has used a much larger lens for the new 48-megapixel camera. Furthermore, the video shows which adjustments have been made for satellite communication and, compared to the predecessors, there is no longer a SIM card slot (in US models).
Larger battery
You can also check which battery capacity the device. The iPhone 14 Pro Max has a battery with a capacity of 4,323 mAh and is therefore slightly smaller than that of its predecessor. The iPhone 14 models will be in stores starting next Friday, except for the iPhone 14 Plus (which arrives on October 7). You can therefore view them for yourself for the first time. The iPhone 14 pre-order started last week and you can still reserve the iPhone 14, but the Pro models now have a slightly longer delivery time.
In the meantime, we are still waiting for the teardown of iFixit, which is usually a bit more thorough and explains more. In addition, iFixit gives the devices a repair score to indicate how easily certain components can be replaced by yourself or by an expert.
