The Netherlands already has a large number of streaming services that you can watch via your iPhone, iPad and more. Two parties have already joined this year, namely HBO Max and Viaplay. But this fall, another major party will be added. It concerns SkyShowtime, which is a collaboration between the American networks Comcast and Paramount Global. Peacock and Paramount+ are well-known services in the US, but in Europe the two go together under the name SkyShowtime.
SkyShowtime to the Netherlands this fall
Variety reports today that the streaming service will come to the Netherlands in the fourth quarter of 2022. The first expansion in Europe is on September 20 in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The rollout in the rest of Europe will last until the first quarter of 2023. It is not yet known when SkyShowtime will start in the Netherlands, but it is somewhere between October and December. The price is currently unknown.
Earlier there were clear indications that the streaming service would come to the Netherlands, but now there is also a more concrete planning. The streaming service includes content from Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks, Sky Studios and Nickelodeon. Well-known major titles that will be featured on the streaming service include the latest films such as Top Gun: Maverick and Jurassic World Dominion, as well as classics such as Indiana Jones, Jaws, The Wolf of Wall Street and Star Trek. Such films and series can still be seen in the Netherlands on many other streaming services, including Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and Videoland.
The arrival of SkyShowtime means that many films and series will disappear from current streaming services, so that you have to subscribe to an extra service again to be able to watch the films and series. It is not yet known exactly what the app will look like, but such services often have an app for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. We expect the same for SkyShowtime.
