The insulated Fractal Define 7 (test) and its airy mesh variant Meshify 2 (test) are now also available as Mini and Nano for Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX. The new variants, which are based on the compact version of the Define and Meshify chassis, inherit cases that are a good six years old.
Lots of features from the Compact series
The new compact versions adopt many features from the larger Compact offshoots. The Define dwarfs come with a closed and a ventilation slit-reinforced cover to replace. Each of the towers can also accommodate two 2.5″ HDDs in individual holders. Larger hard drives are accommodated in a cage in front of the power supply unit, which accommodates one (Nano) or two hard drives (Mini).

There are also limitations for the graphics card. The maximum length of 331 millimeters is only available if no front fan is placed in front of the GPU, otherwise 306 millimeters remain. Extremely large coolers and PCBs break this limit. Processor coolers always have a height of 167 millimeters.

With the Mini-ITX Nano model, however, there is a clearer limitation: Fractal only provides two expansion slots. There is still air under the graphics card for wider coolers, but its fans still need room to breathe due to the power supply shroud. Housings with half the volume can solve this differently – and the Torrent Nano, in which the power supply unit has moved upwards.
The Define 7 is offered in the new Mini and Nano versions in black with a closed and glass side panel. With the Meshify 2 Mini and Nano, which is always equipped with a window, you can choose between a black and white version. All four new models will be available in stores these days. The prices are between 120 and 135 euros.
