In Win A3 & A5: Compact housings guide air from bottom to top

In Win wants to build compact and minimalist cases with the A series. A3 and A5 implement the plan for the Micro-ATX and E-ATX format. With space constraints and high fan counts making it less compatible, air is drawn from the bottom up like many in-win cases.

However, In Win has not simply launched larger versions of the already available Mini-ITX Tower A1. The A3 and A5 have to do without the floor light and the power supply unit with cable lengths specially adapted to the housing, they are designed much more conservatively in this respect. Instead, In Win names the tool-free dismantling of the outer shell and the vertical cooling design as outstanding features.

Because the simple front can be closed due to the cooling concept, there is space behind it for the power pack, which releases the exhaust air from the interior upwards. A maximum of 200 millimeters of space is available, but if the power supply is longer than 170 millimeters, the graphics card may only be 280 millimeters long to avoid collisions. A height of 162 millimeters is available for CPU coolers, which allows the installation of almost all available models.

< p class="p text-width">A 120 mm fan with RGB LEDs is used for air transfer. The Mercury AM120S model can be operated via a PWM connection between 400 and 2,000 rpm. Two 120mm fans or alternatively 240mm radiators fit on the bottom and under the lid of A3 and A5.

Disks distributed In Win in the chassis. A mounting space for 2.5/3.5″ HDDs is behind the front on the floor, another bracket is behind the mainboard tray. With the A3, another 2.5″ hard drive can also be stowed there, with the A5 there are two 2.5″ hard drives due to the greater height.

Ambitious price

The housings have not yet reached the retail market, but they can already be purchased in the In-Win web shop. There, the A3 costs 115 euros and the A5 127.50 euros. A test by KitGuru judged this to be too high for “inconspicuous cooling performance”, the conclusion is that the chassis is particularly worthwhile if the appearance is pleasing.
