Nightdive lends a hand again
Nightdive Studios specializes in new editions, and like Turok 2 Remastered or System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition, the upcoming Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition will also use the KEX engine. Larry Kuperman, the studio's lead developer, explained to The Hollywood Reporter that porting the code had to be reverse engineered because the original Blade Runner source code was lost.
The developers have promised updates to character models, graphics, animations and cutscenes, as well as widescreen support and configurable controller or keyboard controls.
The now published list of adjustments for the Steam version reads as follows:
- Reconstruction and processing of the original Westwood VQA videos
- Cinematic video frame rates updated from 15fps to 60fps
- Modern HD display
- Improved user interface ""Knowledge Integration Assistant"" (KIA) and Hint UI
- Improved subtitles support
- Support for modern gamepads
- SMAA Anti Aliasing
- Anisotropic texture filtering
