We hardly watch traditional TV anymore. Streaming video services like Apple TV+ (try for free), Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video are more important than ever. But local providers such as Videoland, Film1 and Ziggo also have plenty to offer. More series are added every week and it is nice if you know which series, films and documentaries really stand out. We have therefore made a selection.

New on Apple TV+: Prehistoric Planet

We can't ignore Prehistoric Planet this week, the multi-million dollar production with David Attenborough about dinosaurs. The 5-part series from executive producers Jon Favreau and Mike Gunton sees dinosaurs in their natural environment. It looks like you're actually watching a documentary, but it's all computer generated in the end. Last week a new episode appeared every day, each time about a different living environment, and now you can watch them all in succession! There are also super interesting short films about the science behind the series. We previously wrote about Prehistoric Planet and were impressed by this handsome production.

New on Apple TV+: Helpsters (S03)

For the kids, there's a new season of Helpsters, the Sesame Street-based series where the characters will help all kinds of people. Season three sees Bradley Cooper, James Monroe Iglehart and Daphne Rubin-Vega, among others. Music is provided by Grammy-nominated Japanese Breakfast, Teddy Swims, Blanco Brown and Claud. The series has since been awarded prizes and is praised for the fact that it encourages children to work together, self-confidence and friendship. The series is being created by Emmy winner Tim McKeon. The monsters will again solve all kinds of problems for the guests. Whether it's a day at the beach, inventing a new machine or line dancing: the Helpsters always find a way to master it. The message here is: everything starts with a plan.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

On display at: Disney+

Star Wars fans should definitely check out Obi-Wan Kenobi. The Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) guards a young Luke Skywalker and is drawn into yet another adventure. The three previous Star Wars prequels didn't always go down well, but the character of Ewan McGregor (previously played by Alec Guinness) did receive a lot of appreciation. Hence, the actor from Trainspotting and Fargo returns in a miniseries on Disney+.

The story takes place ten years after Revenge of the Sith, where Obi-Wan faced his greatest defeat, the demise and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice (Anakin Skywalker). As we all know he became the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. Tatooine is a barren desert world, where farmers toil in the heat of two suns. Meanwhile, they try to protect themselves and their loved ones from the marauding Tusken Raiders. It's an unlikely place to find a Jedi master in hiding, or an orphaned baby on whose shoulders the future of a galaxy rests. Hayden Christensen reprises his role as Darth Vader and as Luke's guardians we see the return of Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse. New episodes are released weekly on Disney+.

Nibble and Dale Rescue Rangers

On display at: Disney+

It doesn't get any crazier. Chip and Dale in a wacky movie, where one (Knibble) is just drawn and the other (Babbel) wanted a solo career and decided to turn into CGI. They play the actors of the former Rescue Rangers, who are about to embark on a new adventure together. It contains many references to the film world, which makes it fun for adults to watch.
