It seems that Tesla already has; started to move to carry on the expansion project of his Gigafactory in Berlin. In early May, a report had emerged that the American carmaker had set its sights on land of about 100 hectares next to his factory. Apparently, the company & agrave; took the first formal step of this new project. Indeed, the German newspaper Rbb reports that the mayor of Gr & uuml; nheide, Arne Christiani , has confirmed that Tesla has officially submitted the application to acquire the land and expand its site .

Local institutions will now have to examine the project and decide whether to approve it or not. According to what has been reported, the discussion will start; already the 2nd of June. To give the green light, the Municipality will have to however also modify the development plan of the area. There should be no problem in obtaining from the authorities; all necessary permissions. However, times may be long . In fact, there is talk of even a year. Times that are not surprising given how long Tesla had to wait to get the green light to be able to put his factory on German soil into operation.

GROWTH PLAN

The carmaker has just started production at the Gigafactory in Berlin but that doesn't stop it from thinking already; to the future, especially if the times dictated by the bureaucracy are long. According to what was reported in the previous report, Tesla's idea would be to use the new land to build a railway station for freight and storage purposes, thus keeping other areas of the factory are vacant as it could expand production operations in the future.

The 100-hectare land would be located east of the Tesla factory between the RE1 railway line and state roads L23 and L38. With this new project, therefore, Tesla would aim for greater vertical integration to limit its exposure to supply chain problems, also laying the foundations for future production expansion.

Sar & agrave; therefore very interesting to follow this project given the importance that the Gigafactory of Germany plays in the expansion plans of the American car manufacturer. Recall that Tesla also aims to expand the Gigafactory of China. In this case, for & ograve ;, it will be & agrave; built a second factory adjacent to the current one with the aim of doubling production, reaching almost one million cars per year.
