Antec Cannon: The display case turns the GPU into a decorative element for 435 euros

Antec is presenting a show case with a price tag of around 435 euros as the “Cannon”. There is no connection between the name and the design, but the features are interesting: Two water cooling systems with separate circuits can be used at the same time. The graphics card serves as a decorative element on the front.

The design of the Cannon is almost “normal” for a case of this class in view of models such as the “engine block” Linkworld Azza Overdrive ' or 'conservative'. A mix of steel and glass panels in a slightly futuristic shape hardly raises an eyebrow in this product class.

The content of the cannon makes sure of that. What is striking is the possibility of placing the tower both horizontally and vertically. In both cases, the graphics card is made an eye-catcher. It can be screwed either to the right of the mainboard or directly to the front. There, their position can also be changed in height and depth in order to align models of different lengths and widths in the best possible way.

According to the product images, the mainboard is rotated by 90 degrees. In this way, the expansion slots come closer to the front and thus the position of the GPU, which allows the riser cable to be hidden. Another cable hiding place is behind the mainboard tray, which has a 33 millimeter deep shelf for this purpose. According to Antec, the cables of the power supply unit mounted on the floor should be routed there.

Water cooling in focus

Due to the two-chamber layout, the Cannon primarily thinks of the use of water cooling. Two 360mm radiators can be mounted behind the mainboard along with three hard drives. Another radiator of this size fits at the front and rear. Only three radiators can be used at the same time, the remaining space is occupied by the GPU or pump.

Antec hardly leaves any space for CPU coolers. In addition, despite the considerable dimensions, not all E-ATX motherboards fit into the Cannon. It ends at a width of 272 millimeters, but the specification allows around 300 millimeters.
