With the Momentum True Wireless 3, Sennheiser, now a brand of Sonova Holding AG, is presenting the new flagship of its own line of in-ear headphones. Not only the design has been adjusted more than in the first two generations, the sound, ANC and voice transmission should also be better than the predecessor.
News Ear fin design
The changed design, which says goodbye to the circular outer shape of the predecessor, is intended to offer a better fit. New ear fins on the outside of the earphones should also offer a firmer grip. Sennheiser supplies a total of four different sizes for the silicone attachments and ear fins.
Technical detail changes
Something has changed in the key data in the detail area. For wireless transmission, the Momentum True Wireless 3 use Bluetooth 5.2 instead of Bluetooth 5.1. However, the new in-ears do not offer Bluetooth multipoint, in order to be able to connect the earphones to two end devices at the same time for a seamless change. The dynamic drivers still measure 7 mm in diameter and the audio codecs are SBC, AAC and aptX, the latter now aptX Adaptive, while the predecessor only used aptX. Sennheiser states that the battery life of up to 7 hours is identical for both models, and nothing has changed in the total of up to 28 hours in connection with the charging case. The charging case can still be charged either via USB-C or wireless charging. With IPX4, the protection class has also remained the same and the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 can be used in the rain, but must not be washed off or submerged.

ANC and transparency mode
The active noise cancellation (ANC) and telephony via the earphones is implemented via three microphones per earphone. The hybrid ANC relies on one inward and two outward-facing microphones. If desired, the environment can be forwarded to the ears via a transparency mode, for example to be able to better understand announcements.

New sound test for individualization
There is also a new function in the software called “individualized hearing”. It adapts the sound experience to the individual taste of the user by conducting a sound test in the Smart Control app. In addition, presets and an equalizer are available in the app for adjustments.
Touch control with wearer recognition
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 rely on one for control Touch controls on the outside of the earbuds. In addition, they have a wear detection sensor so that music playback pauses when an earbud is removed from the ear and resumes as soon as the earbud is replaced.
