We hardly watch traditional TV anymore. Streaming video services like Apple TV+ (try for free), Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video are more important than ever. But local providers such as Videoland, Film1 and Ziggo also have plenty to offer. More series are added every week and it is nice if you know which series, films and documentaries really stand out. We have therefore made a selection.

New on Apple TV+: The Long Game

Apple is releasing two documentary series about basketball. The Long Game is about the up-and-coming NBA talent Makur Maker. In an unexpected turn of events, he finally decided to retire from an NBA career and went on to play college basketball at Howard University. This series consists of five parts.

New on Apple TV+: They Call Me Magic

Perhaps even more interesting to watch is the four-part series They Call Me Magic. This is about the life of basketball legend Earvin Johnson, better known as Magic Johnson. The documentary makers got unparalleled access to the Los Angeles Lakers athlete, his family and friends. We also see something of his later life as a businessman and the black communities he helped, as well as the impact after being diagnosed with HIV.

Polar Bear
