Apple doesn't organize an event every spring, but for this year the chances of an Apple event in March seem quite high. It has been said by multiple sources that 2022 will be a very busy year for Apple, with almost every product getting an update. We are expected to see some of those updates during Apple's March 2022 event. But which products and announcements can you expect exactly? We've sorted it out for you! Date Apple's March event: when is it?
Officially, the date of Apple's spring event of 2022 has not yet been announced. Earlier there were rumors of an event at the end of March or in the first half of April, but according to a reliable source the event will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. That is relatively early in the month, especially if you compare it with previous years:< /p>

- 2019: March 25
- 2018: March 27
- 2016: March 21
But a date of March 8 is not very unbelievable either. Ten years ago, on March 7, 2012, Apple also held an event. At the time, the third-generation Apple TV and the third-generation iPad were announced there. A date of March 8, 2022 is therefore not too bad for the upcoming event.

Expectations March 2022 event in brief

New iPhone SE 2022 : almost certainly
The iPhone SE 2022 will star in Apple's March 2022 event. Two years after the current iPhone SE, it is now time for a new version, although you do not have to expect much in terms of changes. The design and screen remain largely the same. Apple may have made a different color, but in general the design remains the same. What is new: a new A15 chip (instead of A13), addition of 5G and a slightly improved camera. Whether it will be a dual camera or whether it will remain with a single lens is not yet certain. We bet on the latter.

The new iPhone SE 2022 has a 4.7-inch LCD screen. There is also just a home button with a Touch ID sensor. We think the price of this model will remain the same compared to the current model, which has a suggested retail price of €489.
New iPad Air 2022: almost certainly
The current iPad Air from 2020 is already a year and a half old, so it's almost time for an update. If you compare this iPad with the other models that were all renewed in 2021, it is also noticeable that it lags behind in certain points. The front camera is still 7-megapixel and Center Stage is still missing. The chip can be boosted from the A14 to the A15, while an additional flash can be added under the rear camera.
The Cell version is very likely to get an upgrade to 5G. It is not clear whether anything will be improved on the screen. The current model has a 10.9-inch display and that is expected to remain the same with the iPad Air 2022. There have been rumors of a mini-LED or even OLED screen, but we don't think there will be one this year.
HomePod mini to the Netherlands: great opportunity
That the HomePod mini will come to the Netherlands and Belgiumë is no longer a secret. Last December, Apple already added Dutch Siri to the HomePod. That is of course a big fat hint that the smart speaker will soon be for sale in the Netherlands, but the big question is when exactly? Apple will probably combine the further rollout with a number of other countries. Russian was added at the same time as the Netherlands and Apple is also said to be testing other languages, such as Sweden. There is also a long list of countries where the HomePod mini should be available soon.
The Apple event seems like a great opportunity to announce the further release of the HomePod mini, so we think we finally get the redeeming word. The speaker could then be officially available in our country in the course of March or April. It is not clear whether Apple will release new colors of the HomePod mini. We don't think that chance is that great.
New Mac: great opportunity
It's almost certain that a new Mac is on the way. But the sources disagree on exactly which new Mac that is. Apple has several Macs planned for 2022, which will be released throughout the year. The biggest opportunity, we think, is for the high-end Mac mini. It was previously suggested that this model with M1 Pro/M1 Max chip would be released at the end of 2021, but that has not happened. A release this spring therefore seems logical. In addition to a faster chip, this model would get a new design. Also read our expectations of the new Mac mini of 2022.
Another possibility is that Apple will announce the new entry-level MacBook Pro, as a successor to the current 13-inch MacBook Pro M1 from 2020. Apple would be working on new versions with the M2 chip, but that was only announced for a later moment. year expected. The M2 chip still seems a long way from us, but a source suddenly said that the entry-level MacBook Pro 2022 is already in March. We wouldn't dare to bet our money on it, but we still have a lot to do.
Software updates: release date for iOS 15.4 and more
Apple has some major updates planned for this spring. With iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4, macOS Monterey 12.3, and more, Apple has tons of new features in the pipeline. What about Universal Control or the use of Face ID with a mouth cap. The updates contain numerous other small improvements, which we have listed in separate articles.
Usually, the new devices are immediately provided with these updates, so that they come out at about the same time as the release of the new iPhone, iPad and Mac. We expect the updates to come out in the weeks after the event, possibly even the week after.
