macOS 12.3 beta 1

January 27, 2022< /b> – The first beta of macOS Monterey 12.3 is available to developers with build number 21E5196i.

In macOS Monterey 12.3, Apple has finally added Universal Control. In conjunction with the beta of iPadOS 15.4, the feature is now available for beta testers to try. The feature is likely to be available to everyone later this spring. Apple previously announced that Universal Control would be released in the spring.

Even before the first beta of macOS 12.3 Monterey was released, it was in the news that the update could cause problems. This concerns cloud services such as Dropbox. Fortunately, fixes are available, so we don't expect any major issues when macOS 12.3 is eventually available to everyone. The ‘problems’ of macOS Monterey 12.3 and cloud services, we describe in more detail in a separate article.

If you want to test the update, we recommend installing macOS Monterey on a separate partition. You can read how to do that in our tip.

About macOS Monterey 12.3
macOS 12.3 Monterey is the third major update since Monterey came out. Certain features didn't make it to previous versions of Monterey, so we hope they'll be there in 12.3. The main feature on the way is Universal Control. You can read everything that was new in macOS 12 Monterey in our overview.

About testing betas
When testing betas, you can often run into problems. First of all, not all functions are usually available immediately, but they are added and expanded during the test period. You may also suffer from crashes or some apps may not yet work properly. So keep this in mind if you decide to test a macOS update. It is therefore not recommended to install a beta on a device that you use every day, because there can still be many problems in the beta. You can also install macOS 12 on a separate partition.

This article will be published again and again with new betas, as we update the newly added features. In addition, reactions can also be cleaned more strictly than you are used to from us. This way we prevent you from having to fight your way through dozens of outdated responses from a few weeks ago.
