The fact that omicron has now taken over as the dominant variant of covid-19 has meant that the disease has become less serious.

Now a large British study shows that one of the most characteristic symptoms of Infection with covid-19 – that you lose your sense of smell – is much less common with infection with omicron than with any of the previous variants of the virus.

Only 13 percent of omicron-infected lose their sense of smell compared to 34 percent of those who infected with delta, writes the Daily Mail.

Similar observations have been made in other countries. According to a Norwegian study, 12 percent lost their sense of smell from omikron, according to the New York Times.

About 75 percent of those who lost their sense of smell recover it within two months and 95 percent within six months, according to Medical News Today. p>
