In June 2021, Volvo unveiled its strategy for the future. During the presentation, the brand had shown the Concept Recharge which anticipated the design language that we will be able to find in the future on the new electric models. Now, the automaker is returned to talk about this concept that must be seen as something more & ugrave; of a vehicle designed solely to showcase the aesthetics of future battery-powered cars.
Volvo intends to use the Recharge Concept as a manifesto of its new product strategy . The brand aims to sell only fully electric cars by 2030 and to become a carbon neutral company by 2040.
Entering the era of the electric car, how far you can drive on a full charge will be a very important detail. It is a particular fabric made from natural, bio-based and recycled substances, i.e. natural materials from sustainable forests in Sweden and Finland, recycled corks from the wine industry and recycled PET bottles.
We also find abundant use of natural fibers, Swedish wool from sustainable farms and other environmentally friendly materials. Unfortunately, no details on the powertrain have been shared but & egrave; however it is interesting to note that Volvo is paying close attention to different aspects of vehicles and production to get to reduce the CO2 impact of the life cycle of a car by 80% compared to a 2018 Volvo XC60.
