Everything about the Apple Watch 4G pre-order
After years of waiting, the time has finally come: the release of the Apple Watch 4G in the Netherlands is imminent. Thanks to the multi-sim, T-Mobile subscribers can finally use 4G on the Apple Watch, so that you can leave your iPhone at home and still be reachable anywhere via your Apple Watch. But you do need the Cellular model of the Apple Watch for that. In the Netherlands, stores will sell both the Apple Watch Series 7 and the Apple Watch SE with mobile data connection. We expect stock to be fairly limited, so if you want to get your favorite model fast, you'll definitely need these tips for the Apple Watch 4G pre-order!

When is the pre-order of the Apple Watch 4G?
The pre-order of the Apple Watch 4G starts in the Netherlands on 29 October 2021 at 18:00 ‘s evening. So please note that the time differs from the normal planning of the pre-orders of new Apple products. Apple usually starts at 2:00 PM, but this time it's not until 6:00 PM. From that moment on, the doors will open at Apple, T-Mobile, Amac, MediaMarkt and other retailers for the first orders.

When will the Apple Watch 4G be available?
The 4G version of the Apple Watch will be officially available a week after pre-order, so from November 5, 2021. From then on, the first orderers can expect their reserved copy and sales in the physical stores will also start. If you missed out during the pre-order, you may still be able to make your move in the store from November 5th. We expect there will be some stock for single sales, but it will be limited there too.
How much does the Apple Watch Cellular cost?
The prices of the Apple Watch 4G are also already known. These will be the same as the 4G versions in Germany and the Netherlands. These are the prices for the models with the standard straps. For comparison, we have also included the prices of the GPS versions, so that you can see how much extra you pay for the 4G function:

Which models are available?
The Apple Watch 4G comes in different versions and models. Both the Apple Watch SE and the new Apple Watch Series 7 are available in the Netherlands in a 4G version.

At Apple you can make your own combination of a case and a strap thanks to Apple Watch Studio, but that is not possible at other retailers. There you are bound by the fixed combinations between case and strap. You can find these combinations at Amac, MediaMarkt, Coolblue and other stores. All models are available in both 41mm and 45mm:

The 4G Apple Watch will also be available for the Nike+ version, with the following standard configurations:

It is not yet clear in which configurations the Apple Watch SE with 4G will be available. At least you can choose a combination of a case and strap at Apple.
With which provider can I use the 4G function?
T-Mobile is the first provider in the Netherlands to support the Apple Watch Cellular. Anyone with a Go subscription can activate the multi-SIM at T-Mobile to use his or her own mobile phone number on the Apple Watch. The multi-sim for the 4G Apple Watch costs €5 per month. You use the same data bundle and calling minutes as on your iPhone.
KPN previously promised to support the Apple Watch, although the details are not yet known. Vodafone does not seem to have any plans in the short term. Other providers have not announced anything yet.
What good is 4G on the Apple Watch?
With the 4G Apple Watch you can surf the web, make calls and more, without having to be near your iPhone or a Wi-Fi network. That way you can always be reached, for example during sports or when you go to run an errand. You can also stream music with the 4G Apple Watch via wireless earbuds, simply via Apple Music or Spotify. In a separate article we have listed the main advantages of the 4G Apple Watch.
Where is the titanium model?
In the Netherlands, Apple only releases the Cellular version in aluminum and stainless steel. The titanium version, also known as the Apple Watch Edition, is therefore not officially available in the Netherlands. We saw the same in Belgium: only the aluminum and stainless steel model is sold there too. If you still want the titanium version of the Apple Watch, you will have to move to Germany, France or another European country where this model is sold. The same also applies to the Apple Watch Hermès: that model is not for sale in the Netherlands, but in Germany or France.

If you want to order the Apple Watch 4G, it is wise to read these tips carefully in advance.
#1 Be quick, because stock may be limited< /h3>
We already saw it with the Apple Watch Series 7: stock is limited. Soon after those pre-orders started earlier in October, the model sold out and had a delivery time of more than a month. We expect that to be the case with the 4G version as well. If you want the new Apple Watch Series 7 with 4G first, it is therefore wise to determine in advance which model you want and be ready when the pre-orders start. That's at 6:00 PM on October 29, 2021.
We think the stock of the Apple Watch SE with 4G will be more extensive, also because the demand for it is somewhat less than for the new ones. Apple Watch Series 7.
#2 Choose the right size , colour, strap and material
What saves a lot of time when ordering is choosing the right Apple Watch size, color and strap. If you previously had a 38/40mm model, now choose the 41mm Apple Watch. If you previously had the 42/44mm version, the 45mm version now suits you better. You not only ensure that all your current straps fit, but also that the screen is proportionally as large as your current model. Is this your first Apple Watch? In terms of color with aluminum you can choose between midnight (a kind of space gray), starlight (a kind of silver), dark green, blue and red. Keep in mind that the red and blue ones don't always go well with all straps. Midnight and starlight are a bit more neutral. The stainless steel versions are available in space grey, silver and gold.
And speaking of straps: you can combine the Apple Watch Series 7 with all types of straps at Apple. Take a look at the range of Apple Watch bands and which colors there are. The sooner you choose, the less you have to decide in the moment. Order faster = get delivered sooner! It is also smart to choose an alternative combination if your favorite is no longer available.

#3 Is your favorite model sold out? Check out the Nike version!
Although you are fast, it can happen that your favorite combination is already sold out and has a longer delivery time. You could also look at the Apple Watch Nike in the Series 7 with 4G version. This model is virtually identical to the regular Series 7, but with additional Nike-exclusive dials. You have exactly the same functions and possibilities as the regular version. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that you can only combine this model with the Nike straps when purchasing. All other straps will fit, but you can't choose this when ordering through Apple.
#4 Choose a quiet place for your pre-order
< p>On Friday evening you may already be in the mood for the weekend, you have planned an extensive dinner or you want to stretch out on the couch after a busy week. If you want to be quick, we recommend that you keep your concentration for a while and choose a quiet place where you can place your pre-order. So put your phone or laptop on Do Not Disturb and sit back and relax. Make sure you don't have any nagging from roommates or colleagues and take the pre-order into account when making appointments. If you have arranged with friends, tell them that you will be a little later. Placing a pre-order with a group of friends around you is far from ideal.
#5 Don't pay with iDEAL
Payments via iDEAL can sometimes take a little more time. As a result, you are insecure for a longer period of time whether the order has gone through properly. Choose to pay by credit card if you have the option. Also good to know: The Apple Store also accepts Apple Pay, but only with credit cards. In addition, you cannot use a gift card if you pay with Apple Pay, so in that case choose to pay with a credit card in the normal way. We have had the best experience when ordering using Apple Pay or using a credit card in the normal way.
#6 Get ready well before 6pm
Don't wait until 5:59pm to to start pre-ordering. It is useful to open the website of your favorite store fifteen minutes in advance and have things ready, such as your credit card. Another good tip for the Apple Store: use the Apple Store app, because it often goes back online before the website.
#7 Place your reservation
Have you followed all the tips and made your choice for your model? Then it is time to place your pre-order from 18:00 on October 29, 2021. Here's how it works:
- Make sure you're ready around 6:00 PM on Friday, October 29.
- The Apple Store often goes offline a few hours in advance. You can start placing your order as soon as the website comes back online.
- Go to Apple.nl on your computer or use the app. The latter is often faster. Or go to the website of your favorite webshop that participates in the pre-order.
- Have your Apple ID, delivery address and payment information ready.
- Make sure you know which Apple Watch Series 7 you want. You can choose from several sizes, colors and straps.
