In the run-up to this year's Frankfurt Book Fair, the Tolino Alliance unveiled the new Vision 6. In addition to a new technical basis, it also has the new Carta 1200 from E-Ink as screen technology.

For example, an AllWinner B300 CPU is to be included in the new e-book reader now four cores and a maximum clock rate of 1.8 GHz ensure sufficient performance, which should be shown primarily in the response time and a faster content build-up. The developers have also worked on the memory, which has doubled from 8 GB to 16 GB. In addition, with the Vision 6, Tolino is using USB-C as a connection port for the first time.

Carta 1200 with higher contrast

The biggest change concerns the display, which is now on Carta 1200 from E-Ink as a technology. With this, the specialist for digital ink was able to shorten the response time by around 20 percent and in turn increase the contrast by 15 percent. This should offer noticeable advantages for the user. The size of the screen and the resolution, however, remained the same at 7 inches and 1,264 × 1,680 pixels. Other proven functions of the predecessor such as smartLight, IPX8 water protection and the magnification mode for people with visual impairment are still integrated. Buyers have to do without a color display like the PocketBook Color (test).

The Tolino Vision 6 should be available from all Tolino partners from autumn, but can already be pre-ordered . The price is 169 euros.
