The affected user decided to exchange his iPad mini at an Apple Store for a replacement, but that model was also found to suffer from this problem. In fact, the effect was much worse there. Other users in the discussion have also experienced this screen problem, although not everyone is affected by it. Pressing the display more firmly is mainly used if you want to drag a part or hold it down to get extra options. Another user reports the same discoloration just above the USB connector.
