No more mini, but an extra Max

Gurman has a weekly newsletter, in which he spreads the latest infamous. This time, he's looking at the iPhone 14, claiming it's going to be a 'complete redesign'. of the iPhone 14 arrives. The changes this year are less spectacular, according to Gurman, because the Apple engineers are working behind the scenes on bigger things that need more time. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously claimed that Apple will discontinue the mini model in 2022 and that there will be a ‘punch-hole design’ arrives. Such a camera hole can already be seen in some iPhone renders based on rumors. Also rumored, Jon Prosser claims a punch-hole design is on the way and says he's seen images of an iPhone 14 Pro Max without a notch. Strangely enough, the renders of these iPhone 14 models still show a flat model with flat sides, which makes it difficult to imagine a ‘complete redesign’ can speak.

With next year's smartphones, Apple would like to focus on the ‘iPhone 14 Max’, a larger entry-level model. The 2022 lineup would then look like this:

  • Standard iPhone 14
  • iPhone 14 Max
  • Two iPhone Pro models

It is still unclear whether they will have Touch ID under the screen. According to Kuo, Apple would be working on it, but whether that will work for the 2022 models is still unclear. In any case, it will come in the 2023 iPhones and then a foldable design will follow in 2024. Apple has its own plans for this, which should become reality within a few years. Gurman also thinks the ‘iPhone Fold’ coming out in 2024.

The iPhone 13 series has just been released, but there are already rumors about the successor on the street. Some renders have already appeared that should represent the presumed iPhone 14. There is no longer a notch to be seen and the camera bump (which is extra large with the iPhone 13 series this year) has also disappeared. The TrueDepth camera could be hidden under the screen so that you can barely see it.
