BitFenix Prodigy M 2022: Housing classic gets a facelift for the present

BitFenix revives an old small housing. The new Prodigy M 2022 is intended to be a contemporary reinterpretation of the Prodigy and Phenom (test) models, which came onto the market in 2013 as the forefathers of current compact housings. The new model cuts off numerous old braids and offers more space with the same volume.

Eight years of case development lead to numerous changes, but do not require any fundamental changes to the design. This is barely noticeably changed in only three places: By eliminating the 5.25 “slot, a real glass side panel and the new USB Type-C port on the side panel, where the I/O panel is located.

The interior is subject to major changes. Despite the unchanged dimensions in all dimensions, larger graphics cards and coolers can be installed. BitFenix does not impose length restrictions, at least they are of no practical importance. A special feature remains, however, because the power supply in ATX format should be short so as not to get in the way of the graphics card – it sits directly behind the front and blows air downwards out of the case.

Hard disks take a bracket on the back that accommodates two 3.5 “or three 2.5” HDDs. If necessary, both fans on the floor can be replaced by HDDs. The ventilation concept has also been fundamentally modernized. Exotic large fans can no longer be used. Two 120 mm models are possible on the bottom, two 120 mm or 140 mm fans fit under the lid. Due to the five expansion slots, the new Prodigy also accommodates radiators there. Alternatively, the mesh opening can be closed with an acrylic glass element. Depending on the length of the power supply unit, there is also space for a 120 or two 60 mm fan on the front.

Two models in two colors

The Prodigy M 2022 is available for around 100 euros with a 60 mm and a 120 mm ARGB fan including an ARGB controller. The Prodigy M 2022 ARGB, which costs just under 120 euros, comes with two additional ARGB fans and two 30 cm long ARGB LED strips. Both equipment variants are offered in black or white.
