Apple's video workout service Fitness +, which was specially developed for combination with the Apple Watch, is coming to Germany. The fitness program, which was introduced in the USA at the end of 2020, will also start in Germany by the end of the year. Before that, there will be a new body training program with Pilates and a guided meditation.
The body training Pilates and guided meditation to practice mindfulness will be introduced on September 27th. In addition, Fitness + is introducing a new program with two-time Olympic gold medalist and five-time ski world champion Ted Ligety and Fitness + trainer Anja Garcia. The winter sports-inspired program aims to improve strength, balance and endurance so that users are prepared for the snow season.
Group training with up to 32 friends
This fall, Fitness + will also be bringing group workouts with SharePlay, which is not expected to be available immediately at the start of iOS 15. This allows users to train and exchange ideas with up to 32 other participants by starting a group workout from a group conversation or a FaceTime group call on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV with AirPlay. All users can see and hear each other while working out together and all users are notified when someone moves forward on the comparison display or closes the activity rings.
Apple Fitness + uses measurements from Apple Watch that are displayed to the user directly on the screen of the iPhone, iPad or Apple TV on which the video workout is played. The training sessions are accompanied by music from current artists, Apple Music users can also play the playlists later in Apple Music.
No localization, but subtitles
Fitness + will not only start in Germany in the course of this year, but will also be launched in a total of 15 other countries – Brazil, Germany, France, Indonesia, Italy, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Austria, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the Switzerland, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. It was already available in the US, Australia, the UK and Canada. However, the offer is not fully localized or provided with regional trainers, as other services and fitness providers such as Peloton try, but Fitness + remains entirely in English, but offers subtitles in six languages.
Price not yet known in Germany
Apple has announced an exact date and, in particular, a price for the German market the introduction in Germany not yet. In the US, fitness costs + $ 9.99 a month or $ 79.99 a year. The Fitness + subscription can be shared with up to five other people in the family, which requires an Apple Watch Series 3 or later. In the US, buyers of a new Apple Watch also get 3 months of Fitness + free. In addition to an Apple Watch from Series 3, an iPhone 6s or newer is required.
