System requirements: Halo Infinite wants performance from the graphics card only

Now that Halo Infinite has a final release date and will be available in stores from the beginning of December, albeit without a forge or co-op, Microsoft has also published system requirements. The shooter doesn't get too demanding, at least on paper. That was to be expected due to the free-to-play concept.

Free to play, even if it is only used for multiplayer in Halo, needs low hurdles, after all, everyone should be able to try the game – especially in this segment, more mass also means more cash.

Graphics performance is allowed

At least antique hardware is now used. AMD's Bulldozer CPU FX-8370 has eight threads from four modules, but also a low IPC, while Intel's Core i5-4440 from 2013 only has four threads and four cores. Due to the lower performance increases of this era, it can be reasonably assumed that even older Sandy Bridge processors can provide enough performance for the game. Eight gigabytes of RAM are now the norm in better office computers. Only GPU performance is required in a contemporary form: AMD Radeon RX 570 (test) and the actually slower GeForce GTX 1050 Ti are neither ancient nor completely slow.

The recommended requirements make it clear that raw power can also be used in Halo Infinite. AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and Intel Core i7-9700K are still cutting-edge multi-core CPUs. According to the data sheet, the shooter approves 16 gigabytes of RAM and a current mid-range GPU if possible: Radeon RX 5700 XT (test) and the similarly fast RTX 2070 from the green camp still deliver contemporary performance at a high level. However, until the benchmarks are published, it remains unclear which resolution and frame rates are meant by the respective hardware recommendations.
