Economics. The prosecution against Swedbank's former CEO Birgitte Bonnesen further drags on. The defense now has until 1 November to review the preliminary investigation from the Swedish Environmental Crime Agency. The decision to prosecute thus takes several months, writes Dagens Industri.

The preliminary investigation against Bonnesen was initiated in connection with the money laundering scandal in Swedbank 2019, when she, as CEO, had obscured the problems in the Baltics and, among other things, lied to Finansinspektionen.
In late autumn 2018, she stated be “completely sure” that Swedbank did not have any unwashed villages in the Baltics, which attracted attention when SVT revealed the extensive tangle and it was clear that the management had known about the problems in the Baltics for a long time.
The prosecutor suspects the former Swedbank CEO for gross fraud and gross market manipulation due to her erroneous statements, according to previous information to DI.
The question now is whether the internal knowledge of the bank was inside information, which the bank would have published . According to the newspaper, Finansinspektionen is expected to comment on this shortly.
If this is the case, Swedbank will receive an additional fine and it may also strengthen the prosecutor's line in a future prosecution.
