LG was originally expected to produce a 42-inch OLED television for gamers in the second half of 2021. But as has now become known from industry sources, the smallest OLED TV to date is not due to appear until 2022.

So far, there are no smaller than 48 inches

Furthermore, a screen diagonal of 48 inches is the minimum for OLED televisions. For the gaming sector, manufacturers have discovered televisions with a comparatively small diagonal that can also be placed on the desk, for example. One example is the LG OLED 48CX9LB (test) with UHD resolution, 120 Hz, HDMI 2.1 as well as FreeSync and G-Sync, which, with its 48 inches, is an oversized gaming monitor.

But the dimensions for the desk are still enormous, so that players are calling for smaller models. LG actually wanted to satisfy this with a 42-inch OLED television this year, as The Korea Economic Daily (KED) reported in May. But in the latest report from KED Global there is now talk of a postponement. According to industry sources, LG will probably only show the 42-inch model at the CES electronics fair in January; the market launch is therefore not expected until the beginning of 2022 at the earliest.

Like the larger models in the C1 and G1 series, the 42-inch model is also intended for the PlayStation game consoles 5 and Xbox Series X will be optimized. Accordingly, the use of HDMI 2.1 with support for 4K with 120 Hz as well as VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) is almost guaranteed.
