These delayed iOS 15 features won't be available until later

Unfortunately, Apple doesn't always manage to complete all the features of a major release in time. That happened in 2018 with FaceTime groups and last year the privacy labels in the App Store had to simmer a little longer. Some of the features in iOS 15 will come later this year. Some functions will be available in the Netherlands and Belgium. long to see daylight.

  • SharePlay
  • Privacy Report for Apps
  • Universal Control
  • Hide email address and custom email mail domains
  • Digital inheritance
  • Later in the Netherlands and Belgium

#1 SharePlay
One of the iOS 15 features that Apple is most proud of is SharePlay. This feature allows you to watch movies and listen to music on different devices with others. It also works on the Mac and Apple TV. Thanks to SharePlay, you can also share your screen with the rest via FaceTime, which comes in handy if you need to explain something about your device.

SharePlay was present in the earlier betas of iOS 15, but not anymore since iOS 15 beta 6. Apple has confirmed that SharePlay has been deferred and will be available in a release later than iOS 15.0. So that could be iOS 15.1 or iOS 15.2, but that is still a matter of guesswork. Our own tests showed that SharePlay was still quite unstable. Apple may have recognized that it won't be able to fix it in time.

#2 Privacy Report for Apps
Ironically, in iOS 14, a privacy feature was also delayed until a later release, namely the privacy labels in the App Store. Also this year, not all new privacy features are present in the major release. This is the privacy report for apps. This is an overview in the Settings app where you can view accurately which apps have requested certain privacy-sensitive information.

With this function, you as a user can easily spot which apps want a relatively large amount of privacy-sensitive data from you. As a result, you may choose to uninstall an app or restrict access to your data whenever possible. This feature has not been in the beta of iOS 15 so far, apart from the ability to request the report as a text file.

#3 Universal Control
With Universal Control you can easily use your iPad as a kind of second screen for your Mac, without having to do much for this. Place your iPad next to your Mac running macOS Monterey and you can use your mouse and keyboard on both devices. It is even possible to drag images from one screen to another.

It's no surprise, though, that Universal Control isn't coming until later than in the major release of iPadOS 15. Of course, you'll also need a Mac with macOS Monterey. This update is expected to be later than iPadOS 15 anyway. We expect macOS Monterey to come in October or November and that by then there will be a new update for the iPad with support for Universal Control. That could be iPadOS 15.1 or iPadOS 15.2. Universal Control is one of our favorite features in macOS Monterey.

#4 iCloud+: Hide email address and custom email domains
We may not immediately get all iCloud+ features once iOS 15.0 comes out. Apple's own website states that the Hide My Email feature will be added in a software update later this year. Oddly enough, the feature already works in the beta of iOS 15, but that doesn't mean it will also be in the final version.

Another interesting feature that we didn't expect from Apple is the ability to change your iCloud email domain. So that's the part of your email address ná the monkeys tail (@). You can share your domain name with your family members, but exactly how it works is still unknown. It's not in beta yet. While Apple doesn't say anything emphatic about the feature coming later, we don't think it will make it to the iOS 15.0 finish line.

#5 Digital Legacy
It looked like this feature would make it to the big release, but unfortunately it was removed in a beta of iOS 15. With the ‘Digital Legacy’ This feature allows you to set up contacts who can access your account in the event of your death. They don't need your password to do this, but they do need a death certificate.

Apple has confirmed that designating contacts as an inheritance contact will be in a later release of iOS 15, but again won't give a more precise indication. You can read more about Digital inheritance in our tip.

iOS 15 features that are far from coming to the Netherlands and Belgium. come

As is often the case, not all new functions in the Netherlands and Belgium will be available. come. That has to do with several factors. For example, there's a more visually appealing way to navigate with Apple Maps. To this end, Apple has laid out streets in great detail (with zebra crossings, road markings and detailed buildings, for example), but only in a limited number of cities. In CarPlay, this will even come to support cities in a later update. It is expected that it will take a few more years until it is the turn of Dutch cities.

In addition, Wallet in iOS 15 supports US ID cards and driver's licenses. You can pass the border control in America without a physical ID. Simply hold your iPhone against a special scanner and you'll be fine. This feature won't be available in the US until later, but we expect it to take much longer until we're available in the Netherlands and Belgium. can use this digital identification. In addition, it does not appear that Apple is actively inviting other countries to participate.

These are some of the iOS 15 features that are expected to come much later in the Netherlands and Belgium. coming:

  • ID cards and driver's license in Wallet
  • New extra detailed view in Apple Maps and CarPlay
  • Offline Siri and improved dictation
  • Live Text translations
  • Announce notifications with AirPods (English only)
  • Weather notifications (for specific US locations only)
