Barack Obama is the latest in a series of Democrats in the United States to be accused of hypocrisy after apparently violating the recommendations he made to the public during the pandemic.

The ex-president's 60th birthday party at the 100-million mansion in exclusive Martha's Vineyard on Saturday quickly provoked outrage when it was revealed that hundreds of guests had been invited.

Many left-wing politicians and officials have warned of the dangers of the so-called delta variant of the coronavirus and attacked hard at events where many people gather in the same place.

When the storm of criticism came, it was announced that Obama's party had been “scaled down”. But images spread from the party aroused further criticism. Paparazzi photos showed that the guests were not wearing masks and it was clear that no vaccine proof was required to participate in the party, writes RT.

Obama himself was also caught in a picture without a mask and the pictures were spread quickly on social media on Sunday. However, the movie, which was uploaded by musician Erykah Badu, one of the guests, was quickly deleted.

“The whole mainstream media worked together to lie to the American people and pretend that Obama was scaling down his party. He did not. He released completely, without a mask “, comments the conservative profile Candace Owen.

“Maybe we should just start calling it the Obama variant,” writer Stephen L. Miller wrote on Twitter, referring to CNN journalist Jim Acosta this weekend calling the Delta variant the “DeSantis variant” in an attempt to criticize the Florida governor's stance to masks and vaccine coercion.

According to the current advice from the US Public Health Agency CDC, masks must be worn by both vaccinated and unvaccinated in indoor environments with crowds. However, Obama's party was technically an outdoor event because it was held in a large tent, something that critics say was only used as a loophole to get around the recommendations.

Photos of the lavish party reached social media thanks to rapper Trap Beckham and his manager, TJ Chapman, who, however, deleted their posts when they were reminded that there was a photo and video ban at the party.

“No one has “Have you ever seen Obama like this before”, Beckham stated, revealing that the former president danced “all the time”. He also announced that the photos would have to be deleted “because of the rules”.

Other celebrities such as John Legend, Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen and Stephen Colbert also participated in the birthday celebration, writes RT.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki avoided directly defending the party when asked if it sent the wrong message to the public. However, she stressed that Obama has been “a great advocate of vaccinating individuals”.

Barack Obama has been one of many Western profiles who have maintained a high profile in corona issues. In a tweet last month, he encouraged Americans to get vaccinated and claimed that the coronavirus “has become more contagious.”
