If you regularly use the YouTube app, you have undoubtedly been asked if you do not want to subscribe to YouTube Premium by chance. At various times, the YouTube app tries to offer you this membership, which not only allows you to watch without advertising, but also to run YouTube in the background, save videos offline and listen to the YouTube Music Premium offerings. This normally costs €11.99 per month. But the new YouTube Premium Lite that is now being tested in the Benelux, among others, is a lot cheaper.

YouTube Premium Lite tested

YouTube Premium Lite lets you use YouTube without any ads or ads. In the test, this costs €6.99 per month. A spokesperson confirmed to The Verge that this membership is currently being tested in the Nordic countries (such as Norway, Sweden and Finland) and in the Benelux. For almost half the price of the regular YouTube Premium you can enjoy YouTube without interruptions with Premium Lite.

In the test, YouTube Premium Lite can be used on the web, in the apps on iPhone, iPad and Android and on smart TVs and Apple TV. The YouTube Kids app is also included. Compared to the regular YouTube Premium, it lacks the options to run YouTube in the background, download videos and listen to YouTube Music. But if you are only interested in watching YouTube ad-free, Premium Lite could be an interesting choice.

More information can be found on this page, but only if you are part of the test. Not everyone can subscribe, even though YouTube is testing membership in the Benelux. Because it is a test, it is not yet certain whether it will eventually become available. The price is also an experiment.

We are curious if you would be interested in such a membership. Or do you think €6.99 per month is still too expensive? Let us know in the poll.
