– The Commission must now immediately act and block EU funds, especially for Hungary, but also for Poland. The Commission can really no longer speak for itself, says Katarina Barley to the German media.
According to the Vice-President, the two Central European countries are showing signs of a growing “democratic deficit”. In Hungary, “one can no longer talk about democratic conditions”, according to Katarina Barley.
As an example, she mentions that Hungary has recently introduced an antipedo law banning gay and transsexual propaganda aimed at children. The Child Welfare Act has made liberals in the West look red.
Last week, the EU decided to initiate formal infringement proceedings against Hungary and Poland due to the countries' treatment of sexual deviations. In Poland, among other things, “LGBTQ-free zones” have been introduced.
