Users of the Deezer Free offer can now also listen to music for free on the smart speakers and displays of Google Home and Google Nest. To do this, Deezer must be set as the default music service in the Google Home app. Up to now this was only possible for subscribers of Deezer Premium and Family.

Known restrictions also by language

Deezer Free includes commercial breaks and some other restrictions compared to the paid subscription model. For example, a maximum of six songs per hour that you do not want to hear can be skipped. In addition, playlists and artist mixes are always played in random play.

Regardless of these restrictions, users can now also call up Deezer Free by voice via the smart speakers and displays with the Google Assistant. If Deezer Free is set as the default music service, there is no need to specify the service in the voice command. A “Hey Google, play music” will automatically call up Deezer Free. It is also possible to specify and select certain playlists, artists or moods in the voice command. Via “Hey Google, play my flow”, users can also play their so-called Deezer Flow, a personalized soundtrack made up of favorite songs and new discoveries.

The Deezer Free- Integration on smart speakers and displays with Google Assistant will initially be rolled out to users in Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom and the USA. Other countries will follow at a later date.

Spotify Free has been usable for a long time

In addition to Deezer, the competing services Spotify and Apple Music as well as Google's own service YouTube Music can be linked to the Google Assistant as music services for the speakers and displays in Google Home. Unlike Deezer, Spotify has already been able to use the free Spotify Free in addition to Spotify Premium. It was only in May of this year that Deezer was added as a music service on the Apple HomePod.
