Notes from iOS 15 are hidden

Suddenly lost notes you took recently? Then there is a good chance that you have installed a beta on one of your devices. Some notes created with the iOS 15 and macOS Monterey betas are not visible in older versions. This includes notes with tags and notes with mentions. These are new features in iOS 15 that were not yet supported in iOS 14.x. The relevant notes are therefore not visible. This also applies to notes created with macOS Monterey, which also added support for tags and mentions.

If a device in your iCloud account is still on an earlier version than iOS 14.5 or macOS Big Sur 11.3 is running, you will be notified that notes with tags and mentions will be hidden. The problem will only affect a small group of people, as most people who are already testing betas will also have their remaining devices running on a fairly recent version.

As always, with beta versions, it's good to realize that this is testing software and that everything may not work optimally. Another issue you may run into is that you can't restore backups when downgrading from iOS 15 to iOS 14. As a result, you may lose files, photos, and the like added since the last iOS 14 backup.
