Western media become aware of the AOC Agon AG274QXM, because the 27-inch monitor for gamers has a mini-LED backlight. This is a novelty in the field of gaming monitors. The IPS panel with WQHD resolution works with a refresh rate of up to 170 Hz. The monitor has already been released in China.
Gaming monitors with mini LED backlights have already been announced, but models like the Asus ROG Swift PG32UQX have not yet reached the market. This should actually be available at the end of May.
Whether or when the AOC Agon AG274QXM will reach the local market is also still in the stars. In China, the display is no longer news, after all, it was shown at a trade fair in the fall. But now the western world also became aware of this through Prad's reference. A product page at AOC China gives more details.
AG274QXM with 576 mini LED zones
The AG274QXM is smaller than the 32- Zoller from Asus and has to be content with 576 mini-LED light zones, the brightness of which can be regulated separately, which together with the brightness of up to 1,000 cd/m² enables a high contrast ratio in HDR mode. However, AOC only mentions the typical IPS 1,000: 1 contrast, while Asus advertises the HDR mode as 1,000,000: 1.
The 2,560 × 1,440 pixels can be displayed at up to 170 Hz if the individual DisplayPort 1.4 is used. The data sheet states a maximum of 144 Hz for operation via one of the two HDMI 2.0 ports or the USB-C port. The display should be able to display 1.07 billion colors and 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. It is still unclear whether it is a “real” 10 bit or 8 bit with FRC simulation. At the factory, the display is set to a color difference of Delta E & lt; 2 calibrated. Loudspeakers, RGB lighting and an integrated KVM switch are also part of the equipment.
Price, specifications and availability
A price for the AG274QXM is not available at the moment. However, due to the overall lower equipment, the monitor should also be significantly cheaper than the Asus PG32UQX, which costs 3,500 euros.
